  Born on 1st May 1959, to Kota. Raghuramaiah (late) and Susheelamma (late) at Thotapalle village, Gudur Mandal, Nellore District, he had his primary education in the idyllic villages of Nellore. His higher secondary schooling is from St. Peters School, Ranganayakulupeta, and Intermediate from V.R. College. Graduating B.Tech (Civil Engineering), the highly-held education of his times from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati in 1981, Prof. Prasad ranked first in M.E from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1988. A PhD from the world’s top-rung and premier institution, Indian Institute of Science (IIS), Benguluru, Prof. Kota. Nagendra Prasad, Head, Department of Civil Engineering, University Engineering College, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati on his being appointed Registrar of Vikrama Simhapuri University and assuming the charge on 3rd December 2012. His intellectual brightness is solemnized as Indian Institute of Science (IIS) awarded Doctorate to him for his thesis, “Constitutive Modeling of Soft Cemented Soils.”

  Starting his teaching career as Teaching Assistant in 1981 in the Engineering College of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, he rose to Professorship in Civil Engineering Department in 2004. He has specialized on Soil Mechanics, Environmental Geo-techniques, Advanced Soil Mechanics, Constitutive Modeling, Analysis, Assessment and Prediction of Behaviour of Tropical Soils, Soil Structure Interaction and Deep Foundation Engineering. His expertise in these massively solid areas are invited in many a civil engineering projects of the State Government, Private Undertakings and also by the Consultancies.

  Prof. Prasad has been the Visiting Professor to the Department of Civil and Ocean Engineering Dong-A University, Pusan, South Korea from 02-06-2002 to 28-08-2003 and from 20-05-2003 to 09-08-2003, as he was on a project, “Foundation Structure on Soft Clay Research Team, as a part of BRAIN KOREA-2001. He is the Visiting Scientist at Indian Institute of Science during 16th June to 2nd July 1999 carrying out collaborative research on “Mechanics of Granular Materials,” “Finite Element Modeling applied to Geotechnical Engineering,”etc.

  Honours and Awards betokened his outstanding professional arrival as he was bestowed with ‘The Engineer of the Year -2011’ by the Government of AP & Institution of Engineers India, AP State Centre. AP State Meritorious Teacher Award, by the Government of AP, in 2010, IGS Prof. C.S. Desai Biennial Award for “Constitutive Modeling of Geologic Materials,” by Indian Geo-technical Society, at IIT Powai, Mumbai, in December 2000, and Best Technical Paper Award for the paper on “Volume Change Behaviour of Clays at CIVERE,” IIT Kanpur, in 2009. He completed several Research Projects funded by UGC and APCOST between 1997 and 2005.

  Among his crowning achievements, stand out his exemplary contribution as Placement Officer SV University College from 2005 to 2008. He effected a record 1000 placements for the eligible candidates turning the University into a nurturing ground of professionalism and industry’s hot-hub. His is an unmissed name in any committee of academic touch or corporate flair. He is a member of Capacity Building Programme at Indian School of Business (ISB), sponsored by TEQIP, June 2008, Nominated Expert Committee Member for National Board of Accreditation (NBA), 2011. Apart from the distinction of being reckoned for his edified expertise, he has occupied positions as: Coordinator, Centre for Rural Development and Appropriate Technologies, S.V University since 2002, Secretary, SVU Building Centre, SV University, since 2002 etc.

  His teaching experience spanning 30 odd years has made several students’ lives fruitful and inspirational. He guided 08 PhDs and 10 more PhD scholars are carrying out their research work under his supervision. He also guided 28 M.Tech Dissertations, and 25 B.Tech Projects and currently 07 PhDs are under his supervision. He has been the Chairman, Institution of Engineers, India, Tirupati Chapter since 2010. Chairman, Indian Geotechnical Society, Tirupati, since 2008, besides being on Selection Committees of JNTU, Hyderabad, and Member of Governing Bodies of Technical Institutes of high promise. His significant research contributions are on Constitutive modeling of Geologic Materials, Analysis and Assessment of behavior of Tropical soils, Analyzing sample Disturbance in Sensitive clays. His research collaborations are with IIS Bangalore, South Korea, Germany and USA. He has more than 80 National and International publications, offered 76 invited talks at various fora being a sought-after speaker at various conferences and symposia delivering his key-notes and distinguished-talks. He was on the Capacity Building Program between 08 and 14 June 2008 at Indian School of Business (ISB) sponsored by TEQIP. Besides being the a Building Committee Member in Dravidian University since 2006 till date and Vikrama Simhapuri University since 2009 till date, he is a preferred consultant for the civil works of furnishing infrastructure including flyovers, aqua ducts, bridges, tall buildings and irrigation structures.

  He has been the Director of the Centre for Rural Development and Appropriate Technologies for seven years, organized 25 Training programs for the benefit of rural unemployed youth, reviewer of Technical books on “Soft Clay Engineering” (Elsevier Publications), Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering (Pearson Education, India).

  With his distinguished academic accomplishments, his proven expertise of technical accuracy, his passion to being amenable even on heights, the University keeps pace striving for excellence under the dynamic and legacy-building leadership of Prof. K. Nagendra Prasad.
